Below you will find the homework booklets for all subjects which set homework according to our homework policy. Some booklets cover a half term, some cover a longer period.
Homework booklets can either be accessed online or printed at home if preferred. Homework will be checked by teachers and discussed in class. Homework will often not receive a mark or grade but the work undertaken will prepare students for future assessments which will be marked/graded.
Tasks in the homework booklets have been designed to support students transferring knowledge and skills to their long term memory so that they are able to recall it to use in the future. Tasks may require students to recall prior learning or may focus on exploring ideas and concepts at the outset of a new topic.
As parents you can play an important role in encouraging your child to get the most out of their homework by: discussing the tasks that have been set, helping your child with their organisation and by creating an environment that helps your child focus and avoid distractions. Research by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) suggests homework can add between 3 and 8 months additional progress to a student per year so we are keen to make the most of the opportunities that homework presents.
If you have any queries about subject specific homework please contact your child’s teacher or the Head of Faculty using the staff contact list. If you have any queries about homework in more general terms please contact Donna Hubbard-Young, Senior Deputy Head.
